Built on a lakeside hill in the Haliburton Highlands of Ontario, Canada, Abbey North is also a meeting place for the discussion and advancement of the world as it could be. Its activities and events are focused towards three critical and systemic challenges:

• Eradicating the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa
• Caring for the environment
• Delegitimizing war
  

We returned to Canada in 2004 after working in community and leadership development for more than 32 years, first in India and then in Hong Kong.

Eager to resettle in Canada, we searched for a community where we could build a home, be closer to our families, and continue our lifelong commitment to social change. The search led us here to the Haliburton Highlands – one of the most stunningly beautiful areas of this vast country.

Our two grownup children were born and educated abroad, but presently live in Toronto. In late 2007, we happily welcomed a first granddaughter into our family.
